Summarize Data with Data Table

Task.

The data table shows all attribute data for layer features, enabling you to explore and expand on any data calculations you need beyond what's displayed. The data table shows data for the first 100 features in a layer, ordered according to the alphanumeric order of values in the first column. You can organize the columns and export the data to work with it in another application as well.

  1. Select a layer and click on Data Table below the map.

  2. Observe the Row Count on the top right side of the table. It's a key component of working with data because you can use it to determine percentages.

  3. Select a summary statistics option (Sum, Mean, Min, Max) using Column Summary and see the summaries above the column names.

  4. Hover over a summary value or column name to see the complete set of summary statistics or individual cells to see their column name and value.

  5. Organize the table data by dragging columns to new positions, adjusting their size, or by clicking a column header and right-clicking a column name and choosing Sort ascending or Sort descending.

  6. Click Export as CSV and select one of these options:

    • Layer data – to export the data table metrics to use in another spreadsheet or data application

    • Column descriptions – to export available column descriptions and summary metrics for reference

When data features are selected, the row count and summary statistics will update based on the current selection.
