Percent Land Area

For context layers describing land uses as polygons, we spatially intersect the source layer of a particular type with the aggregation geography. We then calculate the total area of the intersection and divide it by the land area of the aggregation geography. If there are no such land uses present, the value is 0. Metrics of this type help to understand the overall land use distribution within a given area due to differences in parcel sizes.
